'Memories' is the first single from Korda Marshall's debut album, Now We Breathe. The five piece from Hertfordshire is headed by lead singer Lisa Hart. Hart's vocals fit perfectly with the slight rock infused track. It's a summer song to play loud with your car roof down. This is a great single that deserves as wide an audience as possible. Probably the band's biggest problem is their marketing. I looked online to see where this single could be purchased and none of the online retailers were stocking it. But worse still was the fact that the band's own website and Facebook page have no mention of where to buy it (other than a mention that it will be available to pick up on iTunes on the 22 July - 21 days after the press release says it's coming out). Not only that, but the single's cover (which was included on the press release we received) was impossible to track down online - so I ended up using a random image from the band's Facebook page. I'm looking forward to the band's debt album, Now We Breathe, but I'm hoping that it will be easier to find and purchase than 'Memories'. Ironic really when you consider that the band took their title from A&R veteran Korda Marshall announcing: "You have to find a way for your music to reach the people that matter". It also made me smile, at 'Memories' lyrics: "We are our own worst enemy." Try their Facebook page, they may eventually promote this release: 8 Nick Smithson |
