Waiting for Lightning is the story of Danny Way, the skateboarder whose dream was to jump China's Great Wall on a skateboard. It's a film about how much abuse the body can sustain, how deep you have to dig to survive the challenges life presents, and how high and far dreams can fly. In his quest for greatness, Way continues to shape the very sport which helped save his own life... When I saw that Nathan Furst had scored the soundtrack for this movie I was looking forward to seeing what he'd delivered. I loved his score for Act of Valour, and was eager to learn whether Furst was going to give us something new and specific for this movie, or deliver something in a similar style to Act of Valour. I mentioned, in my review of the score for Act of Valour, how Furst threw me off balance by delivering a beautiful score that was totally unique. More often than not when a movie is being put together, the editor will include a temp track of music from other composers. The problem with this is that whilst it allows the director to get a feeling for how the finished score should sound to deliver a certain emotion in the viewer, it can also lead to the final composer having to come in and deliver a score that sounds very similar to that in the rough edit. So, once again I have to take my hat of to Furst for delivering a score that not once referenced another composers work. This, like Act of Valour, is another beautiful original score. The album contains 12 tracks, representing 43 min, 12 sec of music. Personal highlights include 'Seed to Origins' and 'Ashes to Ashes'. Furst is certainly a composer worth following in the future. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
