Emily Alyn Lind enrolls in Mackerel Middle School to portray Jamie Kelly - the diary keeper of Jim Benton’s beloved books-turned-Hallmark Channel movie. Lind performs seven original songs for the soundtrack including, 'Dear Dumb Diary'; 'My Awesomeness is Awesome'; and 'Dear Future Jamie'; a cover of Lady Gaga’s 'Paparazzi' and the new single, 'Same Girl'. The album also features a Karaoke mix of the title track... The soundtrack to My Dumb Diary is designed to appeal to young teenage girls, as a consequence there's not much here for the general soundtrack collector. While, obviously, I'm not anywhere close to the intended market, I have to admit that it's quite an impressive collection of teen-pop tracks that will no doubt appeal to its intended audience. Highlights include: 'Dear Dumb Diary'; and 'Just a Number'. 'Score Suite for Dear Dumb Diary' features Steven Argila's score for the movie. It's a bit of a shame that more of his music wasn't included, as this track only runs for 3 min, 47 sec. Yes, it's fluffy, childish nonsense, but what it does it does remarkably well, and Emily Alyn Lind performs her songs with wide-eyed enthusiasm. Young fans of the books and TV movie will play this over and over again. Track listing 01 - 'Dear Dumb Diary' - Emily Alyn Lind 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
