Recorded in 2000, Patty Griffin’s "Lost" Silver Bell album Features 'Top Of The World' and 'Truth #2', Later Covered by Dixie Chicks. The album was recorded at Daniel Lanois’s Kingsway Studio; Newly mixed by Glyn Johns. Silver Bell was intended to be the follow-up to Griffin's hard-rocking 1998 sophomore release, Flaming Red. The album was not released by A&M Records, a victim of the label’s turn-of-the-century ownership change, and until now, it has remained a missing piece from Griffin’s acclaimed catalog. I've been playing this album almost non-stop for about a week now and each time I listen to it I discover something new I love about it. There's a good music of music styles here, from country/folk ('Truth #2' and 'So Long') to rock based tracks ('Boston' and 'Silver Bell') to the Motown inspired 'Sooner or Later'. But the majority of songs here are beautiful indie tracks. Highlights include the quirky 'Little God'; 'Sooner or Later'; 'What You Are'; 'Mother Of God'; and 'Top of the World' - which is easily this album's most impressive and beautiful track. The album contains 14 tracks and lasts for approximately 1 hr. It's been 13 years in limbo, but the wait was well worth it. 9 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
