The Lonesome Southern Comfort Company are a Swiss band based in Lugano and Zürich. Starting as a solo project in 2006, The Big Hunt represents their third album - and their first to be released in the UK.

I have to admit that I couldn't get into this at all. For me the sticking point were the vocals, which sounded like a drunk tramp - I'm sorry but they did. Nor was the music particularly inspired or interesting. For example, what could have been a beautiful song, '64 Warwick Way', just ends up being lifeless and monotonous. It just seemed to go on an on and on, never changing or doing anything of any interest - and again the vocals (humming is probably a more apt description) sound flat and disinterested.

'Mary Anne' and again, a promising track is ruined by the fact it sounds like the musicians are forced to play at gun point. And so it goes on. Each track sounding as lifeless as the last. Even the up tempo 'Retreat' sounds flat.

It's odd, because this could have been an interesting collection of tracks, but the presentation is just too sloppy.
