Happyness (EP)

Artist: Happyness
Label: Weird Smiling
RRP: £3.99
Release Date: 06 January 2014

Happyness is a three-piece band from South London consisting of Jonny Allan, Benji Compston and Ashley Cooper. The band self-produced this, their debut EP which channels some of their influences, most notably Sparklehorse, Yo La Tengo and Wilco...

This self-titled EP, Happyness, contains four very varied tracks.

'It's On You' and 'Orange Luz' sounds like your typical upbeat indie track from the '90s - but brought up-to-date for a more modern audience. 'Lascascadas' is an interesting instrumental track, heavy on the bass, which is hard not to fall in love with. 'Montreal Rock Band Somewhere' is a slow indie track with interesting guitar chord changes.

All four tracks show great promise and the band have the confidence in their songs which usually takes several years to establish. Lets hope their debut album won't be too far away.
