In the epic origin story The Legend of Hercules, Kellan Lutz stars as the mythical Greek hero - the son of Zeus, a half-god, half-man blessed with extraordinary strength. Betrayed by his stepfather, the King, and exiled and sold into slavery because of a forbidden love, Hercules must use his formidable powers to fight his way back to his rightful kingdom. Through harrowing battles and gladiator-arena death matches, Hercules embarks on a legendary odyssey to overthrow the King and restore peace to the land. The music for the movie is composed by Tuomas Kantelinen... Tuomas Kantelinen's score for The Legend of Hercules is packed to the rafters with beautiful themes and hack 'n' slash action music. Highlights include 'The Fall Of Argos'; 'Hercules and Hebe' (which brought to mind the work of James Horner); 'Flight'; 'To War' (which is equal in merit to Howard Shore's output for The Lord of the Rings movies); 'Hercules Returns'; and the epic ' Taking Back Argos'. The album contains 12 tracks (59 min). There's a healthy balance of choral and epic, sweeping orchestration to make this an album worth picking up whether you enjoyed the movie or not. The one problem you might have is tracking it down - neither Amazon or iTunes had it listed at the time of this review. 8 Darren Rea |
