Kevin Hart and Ice Cube lead the lineup in Ride Along, the new film from the director and the producer of the blockbuster comedy Think Like a Man. When a fast-talking guy joins his girlfriend’s brother - a hot-tempered cop - to patrol the streets of Atlanta, he gets entangled in the officer’s latest case. Now, in order to prove that he deserves his future bride, he must survive the most insane 24 hours of his life. The score is composed by Christopher Lennertz...

It may not be on every soundtrack collector's wish list, but Christopher Lennertz's (Starhawk) score for Ride Along does exactly what you'd expect for this sort of movie. It doesn't reinvent the wheel, there are no notable themes to send a shiver down your spine and in all honesty it's nothing more than functional... but there's a certain charm here that's difficult not to like.

The majority of the music is comprised of electronic suspense music. The only track that holds a softer, more beautiful theme, is 'Omar at Angela's / James was Wrong'. In addition I enjoyed 'Stranger Danger', which sounded a little like the theme to Futurama.

The album contains 21 tracks (44 min). Yes, there are your cliched elements, like the creeping around suspense themes so often used in buddy-cop comedies, which is best illustrated in 'Ben's Goodbyes' and 'Crazy Cody', but this is a modern score for a comedy movie and it's hard to knock it for what it does so well.
