After the Dark (aka The Philosophers) is set at an international school in Jakarta, where a philosophy teacher challenges his class of twenty students to a final thought experiment. Faced with an impending nuclear apocalypse, they must determine which ten of them would take shelter underground and reboot the human race. The decision quickly becomes deadly as each in the group turns against each other in a desperate fight for survival that blurs the lines between theory and reality... Nicholas O’Toole and Jonathan Davis's score for After the Dark contains 31 tracks (1 hr, 06 min). There are a few segments of music worthy of note, but on the whole it's a pretty run-of-the-mill affair. The electronic elements, most notably in 'Year In The Life' and 'We Made Pictures', help to elevate some of the tracks; the electronic sounds greatly enhancing the score. In addition 'Choosing' reminded me of Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman's music for TV show Heroes. While it's not a bad score, it's not one I'd put on my shopping list of must own soundtracks. One for fans of the movie only. 5 Darren Rea Buy this item online
