The Hundred Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared is a film adaptation of Jonas Jonasson’s bestseller of the same name. Co-written and directed by Felix Herngren, the film is best described as Scandinavia’s answer to Forrest Gump. The story follows Allan Karlson, the titular 100 year old who escapes from an old folks’ home and gets mixed up with some drug money, all the while recalling his rich life filled with coincidental historical meetings with people like Harry Truman, Robert Oppenheimer and Ronald Reagan. The music, by Swedish composer Matti Bye, was nominated for the Swedish Film Academy Award, the Guldbagge... Matti Bye's score for The Hundred Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared will be of interest to soundtrack collectors due to the fact that the movie spans several decades, and the music beautifully reflects this. You want quirky? Then you'll appreciate 'Dinner with Tage Erlander'; Jazzy? Then you'll adore 'Pim'; '60s spy thriller? Then you'll appreciate 'Espionage'; in addition 'Esteban' reminded me of Carter Burwell's score for Being John Malkovich. It's quite a short score, the 15 tracks coming in at just 30 min, but this is a beautiful soundtrack and is well worth investing in. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
