Backlot Music release Rolf Kent's score for the movie Bad Words. Guy Trilby, a 40-year-old who finds a loophole in the rules of The Golden Quill national spelling bee and decides to cause trouble by hijacking the competition. While reporter Jenny Widgeon attempts to discover his true motivation, Guy finds himself forging an unlikely alliance with a competitor: awkward 10-year-old Chaitanya Chopra who is completely unfazed by Guy’s take-no-prisoners approach to life... Rolf Kent's score for Bad Words ranks amongst his finer works. The main theme (most notable in tracks 'B.R.A.V.O., Mr. Trilby', 'Poolside' and 'Montage of Defeat And Victory') is a funny, quirky affair that is amongst Kent's most memorable songs. The album contains 25 tracks (42 min). 'It's Not A Sundae' reminded me of Mark Knopfler's score for Last Exit to Brooklyn. And on balance, I'd say that 'Disqualified' was this soundtrack's stand out moment. There's still a lot of filler material included that pads out the score, but on the whole this is an enjoyable listening experience. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
