MovieScore Media releases Johan Hoogewijs's score from W. - Witse the Film, the feature-length conclusion of the popular Belgian detective series of the same name. Starring Hubert Damen as the titular investigator, Witse was an immensely influential crime procedural made by VRT and broadcast on their één channel. The program ran for nine seasons between 2004-2012 and was followed by a literary franchise. Directed by Frank van Mechelen, W. - Witse de Film takes the retired detective back to his roots as he tries to close his career by finding the killer of his niece... Johan Hoogewijs's score from W. - Witse the Film is an incredible work of art. It's a million miles away from Toots Thielemans's harmonica based theme tune that accompanied the TV series. The album contains 28 tracks (46 min) and there isn't a wasted minute here. Every track, almost every beat, is packed with beautiful and emotionally charged themes. The score opens with 'Between The Crosses', which gives us our first introduction to the movie's main theme, and it's one that is revisited quite a lot throughout the album, but it's subtle enough to not sound like it's being used as filler material. Personal highlights include: 'Between The Crosses'; the beautiful opening to 'Repentance'; the end segment of 'Branded'; the second half of 'Appointment at the Marketplace'; 'Casino'; 'Photo Album'; 'A Bridge Too Far' (which houses this scores most suspenseful theme); and 'Back to Brussels' (which revisits the main theme - and is by far the best example of it). So, a wonderful, beautiful score that you'll be playing for years to come. 10 Darren Rea Buy this item online
