Lunatic Lullabies

Artist: Jim Kroft
Label: Jackalope Records
RRP: £13.99
Release Date: 14 April 2014

Following on from the albums Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (2010) and The Hermit & The Hedonist (2011), Jim Kroft releases his new album Lunatic Lullabies.

There's a distinct '80s/'90s vibe running through the 12 tracks (42 min) on this album. There are tracks here that reminded me a little of Nik Kershaw's output. The opening to 'I Hope You Know' (which is actually the most Kershaw-esque track) also reminded me of Not the Nine O'Clock News's 'I Like Bouncing' (Listen here to listen for yourself). 'Bye Bye The Elbe', which was probably the track that I enjoyed most, reminded me of the music of Keane.

This is a strong album which gets better the more you listen to it. On the strength of this album I've already ordered his previous two album via iTunes. Highly recommended.
