Aleph Records's release of Lalo Schifrin's score for Bullitt (1968) also represents the label's first vinyl release. The album is being released as a limited edition individually numbered vinyl release (1000 copies) and will feature newly commissioned liner notes. The 200-gram vinyl of the Bullitt soundtrack features both the record and movie version of the score - for the first time on vinyl. Also included is a digital download card of the album. The LP contains 14 tracks (46 min) and is very much a product of its time. The lounge jazz style may bring a quizzical smile to the faces of younger listeners but, for those of a certain age, this is what a good old fashioned action thriller score was all about. In 2000 a CD and MP3 album edition was released containing 18 tracks (in fact the review MP3 version we reviewed still had the "2000" iTunes info on it), so it all depends on whether you want the album on vinyl or not. For serious collectors it's a no brainer - pick this up while you can. For the more casual soundtrack lover you might be better advised to buy the CD edition. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
