Remise is Bailiff's second album, building on their 2011 debut Red Balloon. Like the first album, this second offering is peppered with blues-rock-rooted sounds, as well as incorporating elements of Indian raga, new wave reggae and art funk. This time around the band have strengthened their sound and expanded by incorporating elements of West African blues, Celtic folk, and jagged electro-pop. This is an indie album that packs quite a punch. From the opening stripped back rock track 'Lookin' Away', right through to the album's closing folky 'You & I', this is an album that will keep your attention throughout every track. Highlights include 'Shake My Heart Awake'; the up-tempo 'Golden Hour'; and 'Head in the Clouds', which is a slow, beautiful track that is very reminiscent of Radiohead. If you're looking for something new then Remise is well worth a listen. 7 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
