Fiery, London-based 'gyp-step' band, Molotov Jukebox release their debut album, Carnival Flower. The flamboyant six-piece are fronted by singer, actress and fashion icon, Natalia Tena (Harry Potter, Game of Thrones), whose provocative, sultry vocals perfectly complement the energetic accordion and refreshing vigour of the group as a whole... Carnival Flower encompasses elements of gypsy, swing, Latin soul, calypso and dubstep: a movement that their fan base has affectionately dubbed ‘gyp-step’. The album is an interesting mix of styles, and to be honest there isn't a dull moment in amongst the 11 tracks (42 min, 10 sec). Highlights include the catchy gypsy flavour of 'Tread Softly'; the soul backing band at the heart of 'Neon Lights'; and the raspy vocals on 'Punchlines'. This is certainly an album worth checking out. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
