Home and the concept of belonging is the central theme Hafdis Huld's third album, Home. Home for Hafdis is an old house in a starkly beautiful valley surrounded by mountains just outside Reykjavik. It’s the perfect place for writing and recording music, baking cakes and raising a daughter. With the remarkable Icelandic landscape as a constant backdrop, the songs bring everyday detail into sharp focus, perfectly illustrated on first single, Queen Bee, which was written as a thank you note for her neighbour who had given her a dog... Hafdis Huld's latest album, Home, contains 11 tracks (38 min, 03 sec). This is a more stripped back LP, mainly centred around acoustic guitar, piano and voice. The end result is a more folksy, beautiful sound. It's acoustic pop at its best and there's bound to be more than a handful of tracks here for everyone. For me the upbeat sound of 'Lucky'; the sweet sound of 'Treasures'; the beautiful chorus of 'Little Light'; the quirkiness of 'Pop Song'; and the raw beauty of 'Never Needed You' were all that I needed to ensure this will become a regular listen for quite some time to come. 9 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
