Sylvan Esso was born after Amelia Meath asked electronic producer Nick Sanborn to remix a track she'd recorded with her trio Mountain Man. She asked him to scramble it, to render her work his way. The resulting single ended up bring the two musicians together and their self-titled debut album is the result of their collaboration... Sylvan Esso deliver a sound that is difficult to pin down. There is no pigeon hole for their particular brand of electronic music to slot in neatly. Sanborn's electronic magic compliments Meath's beautiful vocals, the end result being something a little bit special The album contains 10 tracks (38 min, 10 sec) and covers all bases. There's the catchy ('Could I Be'); the sticks-in-your-head ('Wolf' and 'HSKT'); the beautifully laid back ('Coffee' and 'Come Down'). If you strip off Sanborn's electronic elements, then you still have a beautiful track; and likewise, if you remove Meath's vocals you have an interesting dance track, but the two fused together is something much bigger than the sum of its parts. This is pure gold! 9 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
