The Trouble with Templeton is an Australian quintet, who have released their debut LP, Rookie. Already a huge success in Australia, the band is the creation of singer/songwriter Thomas Calder. Rookie contains 14 tracks (42 min, 23 sec). What's interesting is that while there's the standard indie sound woven between the tracks, this is an album where every track is incredibly different from the previous one. So there are touches of Cold Play, R.E.M., and other '90s bands, but the whole album is very much a new beast. There's also a hint of The Last Shadow Puppets in tracks like 'Lint'. It's hard not to love tracks like 'Six Months in a Cast' and 'Soldiers', which are instantly memorable. This is an interesting and well produced debut album, and one that's well worth picking up. 8 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
