Sparks & Shadows releases Bear McCreary's original score for season two of Da Vinci's Demons. Following the season one finale, Florence is thrown into chaos in the wake of the Pazzi conspiracy, and Leonardo da Vinci must push the limits of his mind and body to defend the city against the forces of Rome. When the dust settles, friends are buried and rivalries enflamed. While the Medicis go to unthinkable lengths to deal with new threats, da Vinci continues on his quest to find the fabled Book of Leaves and uncover the secret history of his mother. His search will take him to faraway lands and force him to reevaluate everything he knew about the world and his own history... Bear McCreary's score for the second season of Da Vinci's Demons doesn't retread old familiar ground. While the tracks here feel very similar in style to season one's score, McCreary hasn't revisited old themes (other than the very brief echoes of the main theme which occasionally pop up). McCreary has started again, from scratch, using the choral, gothic sound, that was at the heart of season one, as the building blocks to reinvent the music. As you'd expect the score covers all emotional bases, from rousing action/adventure themes to more beautiful, subtle tracks. As with the original album to season one, another 2-disc CD collection will be released later in the year with even more music from this season. So you can either pick up this CD now, or wait until the 2-disc collection is released. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
