MovieScore Media releases the 80s-flavored retro score for Test, a gay/HIV-themed dance film by filmmaker Chris Mason Johnson. The story is set in San Francisco, 1985. Frankie faces the challenges of being an understudy at a modern dance company while he also embarks on a blossoming relationship with Todd, a veteran dancer at the same company. Although they are very different (Todd is the bad boy to Frankie’s innocence), their friendship still deepens as they navigate a world of risk - the early years of the HIV epidemic. In a world filled with hope, humour, visual beauty and amazing choreography, the musical relief is provided by the funky soundtrack by Ceiri Torjussen... Ceiri Torjussen's score for Test was a little too bland and a little too retro for my taste. Almost all of this album's 16 tracks (36 min, 12 sec) are designed to sit in the background of the film. As such, when listened to in isolation they don't really offer anything. The only exception is the rather quirky 'Weily Waltz'. While it's not a score I'll be wanting to listen to again in a hurry, I'm sure fans of the movie will enjoy it. 3 Darren Rea Buy this item online
