MovieScore Media releases To the Water's music from the movie Downhill. Co-written and directed by James Rouse, the film tells the story of four friends who venture on a long trip across Britain to relive their golden days while struggling with their mid-life crises. The trip of the four archetypes (the serious Gordon, the mousey Keith, the moody Steve and the trickster Julian) is followed by Gordon’s son, whose recording of the journey lends the whole project a kind of mockumentary feel... To the Water's music for Downhill contains 9 tracks (30 min, 35 sec). It's a folk-based, laid back affair that wonderfully captures the spirit of the film. The music for the film is provided by the father-and-son duo of Ben Park and Brodie Campbell under the artist name To the Waters. With over 20 years of experience in music, Ben Park has been a composer at residence at the Opera North, worked in China and is artist in residence at the Oxford Playhouse. This is one of those albums that works just as well as an album by the artist in its own right, rather than as the score to the movie. In fact, it's a pretty safe bet to assume that To the Water tried to capture the essence of the movie in their songs rather than writing to specific scenes as is usually the case with movie scores. While far from an essential purchase, there are enough interesting tracks here to make it worth checking out - especially if you're a fan of the movie. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
