Lakeshore Records releases Mark Kilian's score for Seal Team 8: Behind Enemy Lines. On an unsanctioned mission in Africa, a covert team of U.S. Navy SEALs is sent to locate a secret mining operation and prevent the sale of weapons-grade uranium to international terrorists. The stakes are higher than ever - and so is the body count - as Seal Team Eight must fight their way through the treacherous Congo in order to secure the uranium, expose the unknown buyer, and defuse one of the greatest threats the world has ever known...

Mark Kilian's score for Seal Team 8: Behind Enemy Lines contains 22 tracks (59 min, 07 sec). While it's no doubt an impressive atmospheric score for the movie, unfortunately I found some of it a bit cliched.

It's as though the editor and director used a temp track compiled of other scores for the movie and told Kilian to write as closely as possible to that. So, the end result is music you've heard a million times before - but for me the most notable comparison was Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe's incredible score for the console game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (Nowhere is this better illustrated than on the track 'Three Seals Down').

Of course, this isn't true of all the album's tracks, just the action themes. But those are the most memorable. If you want emotional tracks, then there's 'Almost Dead In Africa' and 'All Over The Place'.

The opening of 'Bridge Attack' (before it opens out into a Prodigy-esque track) reminded me of Brad Fiedel's music for Terminator 2: Judgment Day - especially that album's 'Escape From The Hospital (And T1000)' track.

On balance, it's an enjoyable album full off electronic action packed themes and some beautiful tracks.
