The third instalment of BBE's 'Masters We Love' series, focuses on the original producer Reindorf Oppon and to what could possibly be one of the most ‘mysterious’ Afro-Disco records produced in the late '70s; Nana Love’s Disco Documentary - Full Of Funk. The original master tapes were un-covered, luckily in great shape, and in the process of restoring the tapes, un-released material was discovered, enriching this very special package... Nana Love's Disco Documentary - Full of Funk is a strange beast. From a historical point of view, this is a little slice of '70s weirdness that everyone should listen to at least once. Of course, for many, once will be more than enough, as Love warbles her way thorough track after track as though she were on another planet. Love's high-pitched, nasal vocals are a very acquired taste. In fact, if she were to appear on any one of the numerous musical talent reality shows that swamp our TV schedules, she'd probably not get through the first round... and would probably end up on that special episode that showcases all the nut jobs who are deluded and have no musical talent at all. The music is of interest from a retro point of view, but Love's vocal's may be too much to stomach. Even the backing singers are out of tune on occasion. In fact, my main overall impression was that 'Hang On Baby' was obviously the inspiration for the original 'Lapti Nek' from Return of the Jedi. 3 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
