Screamworks Records release Joshua Bradford and Clayton Worbeck's ambient soundtrack to the Canadian survival horror Dead Within. Directed by Ben Wagner, the film is set six months after a devastating outbreak that has all but ended the human race. A man named Mike and a woman named Kin have survived for such a long time only by isolating themselves in a remote cabin and never opening the door. Now that they are finally starved for resources, they have no choice but to confront the horrors awaiting inside and outside... Joshua Bradford and Clayton Worbeck's score for Dead Within is from that vein of soundtrack that I usually don't enjoy - atmospheric, ambient electronic scores. However, there's something here that does actually work outside the movie. The end result is a rather creepy, score that delivers the occasional interesting theme. That's not to say this is an album that I'd listen to very often - to be perfectly honest I doubt I'll listen to it again - but it does have a certain charm that elevates it from the usual ambient score. The album contains 15 tracks (48 min, 05 sec).'Trapped' reminded me of Scott Glasgow's 'Summoning the Demon' from Lo. 'You Can Kill With a Bat' and 'Eudora Fordycio' represent this score's two stand out tracks. If you're a fan of ambient scores, you'll get a kick out of this. It is creepy, in places, and offers the occasional interesting theme, but for everyone else it'll be a little on the bland side. 6 Darren Rea Buy this item online
