Milan Records release Cliff Martinez's score for the TV show The Knick. Set in New York City in 1900, this drama series centres on the Knickerbocker Hospital and the groundbreaking surgeons, nurses and staff who push the boundaries of medicine in a time of astonishingly high mortality rates and zero antibiotics... Cliff Martinez's score for The Knick represents quite an odd mix of music tracks, considering the show is set in 1900, with a retro '80s electro-pop vibe to it. Surprisingly it works incredibly well for the show but equally works as a novel, standalone score. If Jean Michel Jarre and Gershon Kingsley were to join forces tomorrow and come up with a modern electro pop album to support the show, they'd have a job coming up with anything better than this. This isn't an album where you can take individual songs and add them to your play list - this is an album that has to be listened to as one long project. While it might not be to everyone's tastes, lover of electro pop will find much to enjoy here. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
