14th Street Music LLC release Lorne Balfe's electronic score for the BBC drama The Driver. In this three part series Vince McKee's life is turned upside down when he agrees to be the driver for a criminal gang... Lorne Balfe's gritty score for the BBC's The Driver opens with an interesting theme. 'Vince's Theme' is easily this score's main instantly memorable segment of music over the course of the album's 13 tracks (34 min, 45 sec). It's an interesting, and at times, beautiful score. This is not a surprise coming from Balfe, but I couldn't help feel that it featured a few too many atmospheric tracks and very little in the way of themes that you'd want to listen to on a regular basis. If I were spending my own money on this, I'd probably download 'Vince's Theme'; 'Planning Thursday'; 'A Fresh Start'; 'I Needed a Change'; and 'For His Family'. In the show it adds a lot of atmosphere, but it's not so enjoyable listened to as a standalone album. 6 Darren Rea Buy this item online
