Lakeshore Records release John Debney's score for Houdini. The two-part miniseries follows the epic tales of Harry Houdini as he emerges as America’s first bonafide world-renowned superstar. From humble beginnings at circus sideshows to sold-out concert halls, Eastern European immigrant Erich Weiss rose to become a household name across the globe...

Like Lakeshore Records's recent soundtrack releases for the Hannibal, I was surprised to see that they'd issued two volumes of music for Houdini. It's not that the music is bad, just that it's mainly atmospheric themes that take centre stage. This is another example of a score that really only works when accompanying the onscreen action. There's barely enough quality material stretched across these two albums to make one interesting collection of music. As I've said before - it's perfect for the show, just a little dull when listened to on its own.

Tracks worth your time, however, include 'Moms Death / Mothers Funeral'; 'You've Thrilled Millions'; and 'Bess Goodbye / No Escape'.
