Moviescore Media release Kristian Sensini's score for Rocks in My Pocket. The movie is a fantastical tale based on the true events of five women of director Signe Baumane's family (including herself). It also includes a mini-history of 20th-century Latvia where the director hails from. Inspired by the animation styles of surrealist Jan Svankmajer and Bill Plympton, Baumane's film employs a unique, beautifully textured combination of papier-mache stopmotion and classic hand-drawn animation which required more than 30,000 drawings...

Kristian Sensini's score for Rocks in My Pocket contains 24 tracks (57 min, 58 sec). This is one of those novelty scores that is hard to actually review on its own merits. Sensini has dragged all the comedy instruments out of the cupboard and employs the xylophone / glockenspiel, euphonium (?) to great comedy effect, but it's not an easy listen.

While in the film I'm sure it adds much to the onscreen story, on its own, out of context, it just seems like a rather quaint, and slightly mad collection of weird tracks.

While tracks like 'Signe and Anna' and 'Rocks in My Pockets: End Titles' add an old fashioned fairground vibe, there just aren't enough tracks here that you'll want to listen to on a regular basis. One for fans of the film only.
