Lakeshore Records releases Ceiri Torjussen's score for The Canal. The movie tells the story of David Williams and his wife, Alice, who move into a beautiful period house by the canal with their small child, Billy. As David begins to suspect that his wife is cheating on him, he also starts to have nightmarish visions of an evil presence he believes inhabits his home... Ceiri Torjussen's score for The Canal is almost impossible to review fairly. No doubt, it adds a hell of a lot of atmosphere to the movie and from that point of view it is a flawless collection of tracks that do exactly what they were intended to do. However, released as a soundtrack album on its own merits I have to review it as just that... and, sadly, it sounds bloody awful. Outside of playing it as background music for a haunted house attraction or spooky dinner party, I'm left scratching my head as to who would want to stick this on their iPod and walk around listening to it. At best, it's background filler material and is so painful to listen to that I can't picture anyone getting anything out of this. 2 Darren Rea Buy this item online
