Screamworks Records / Kronos Records release Arturo Rodríguez score for The Maid's Room. Written and directed by Michael Walker, the film is a physiological thriller set in the affluent area of Long Island. Attractive Latina immigrant Drina takes a job as a live-in maid at the home of the Crawfords, a well-to-do New York family. Drina’s duties include taking care of their pampered son Brandon, but there are some tasks that weren’t listed in the application. When Drina notices a new damage on Brandon’s car, then later reads about a fatal hit-and-run accident, she puts the two things together... Arturo Rodríguez's score for The Maid's Room is interesting in as much as there are a handful of impressive themes that are woven throughout the albums 16 tracks (49 min, 06 sec). The score opens promisingly with the dark, beautiful 'Drina'. Easily the most memorable theme is to be found in 'Reburial', but also of interest is the piano based 'Drina's Theme from "The Maid's Room"'. The ending of 'Reality Check' reminded me of Bernard Herrmann's score for Cape Fear (1962). There are also a number of nice atmospheric tracks ('Drina Figures It Out' and 'Humiliation / Trying to Escape') which provide perfect edge-of-your-seat suspense music. There are a nice mix of themes here... the suspense tracks are especially noteworthy... I'd even go as far as to compare Arturo Rodríguez's work here to a modern day Bernard Herrmann. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
