Jenny Gilespie's new album, Chamma, is released through Narooma Records. The album contains nine tracks (36 min, 14 sec). It's a strange album, in that it feels like a collection of tracks by different artists, rather than the work of one person. Depending on your point of view, this is either its strength, or its weakness. For me it just didn't really work and I wasn't really sure what sort of musical style I was listening to. I know that putting music into neat pigeon holes is a little cliched and lazy, but most people's music tastes aren't actually that diverse, so to listen to an album like this was a little uncomfortable. On balance, the final track 'Holidays (Makr Remix)' was probably my favourite on the album. It's just a shame that it feels so out of place with the rest of the material. 6 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
