MovieScore Media release Trond Bjerknes's score for Operation Arctic. Written and directed by Grethe Bøe-Waal and based on the bestselling novel by Leif Hamre, the film follows the adventures of three children who are left alone in a winter storm on an island of the Spitsbergen. 13-year-old Julia and her two 8-year-old twin siblings Ida and Sindere must fight for their survival while their parents on the mainland are desperately looking for them, not realizing that they are stuck on the other side of the Arctic Ocean... While I did enjoy Trond Bjerknes's score for Operation Arctic, I couldn't help thinking that it was a bit of a missed opportunity. Having not seen the movie, I can't comment on how well it compliments the onscreen action, but listened to in issolation there were a few too many background atmospheric tracks. Given the the film's subject mater and location I was expecting to hear some incredibly moving themes... and while there are some interesting segments of music, on the whole it's a rather bland score. The only really notable track on this album's 42 min, 12 sec of music was 'End Credits', which reminded me of Savalas trailer music for the Dead Island console game. 6 Darren Rea Buy this item online
