Cool Ghouls were born in San Francisco - the town so many of their electric heroes (Creedence, Thee Oh Sees, Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Flamin’ Groovies...) call(ed) home. A Swirling Fire Burning Through The Rye is their sophomore full-length album, recorded live to tape by San Francisco’s Sonny Smith (Sonny and the Sunsets) and mixed and mastered by Mikey Young (Total Control, Eddy Current Suppression Ring)... A Swirling Fire Burning Through the Rye contains 10 tracks (41 min, 33 sec) of retro sounding tunes which brings to mind a long lost, but not forgotten, era. The album opens with the Beach Boys-esque 'And it Grows' and never looks back. There's elements of Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead... and a host of other bands of the time. Personally I enjoyed this throwback album, but it won't be to everyone's taste. 7 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
