MovieScore Media releases Philippe Jakko's score for Allies. The film takes place in August 1944 when a team of British soldiers led by an American Captain are dropped behind enemy lines in France on a mission that could shorten the war. As nothing goes according to plan, commando Sergeant Harry McBain and Captain Gabriel Jackson know they must put aside their personal animosity if the mission is to succeed... Philippe Jakko's score for the WWII action movie Allies doesn't rely on all the familiar cliches that have become the norm in recent years. A lot of console games and films tend to fall back on John William's "borrowed" technique of focusing a little more on the brass section of the orchestra, as well as a military drum sound. Don't get me wrong, it's a sound a love. But these days, when it's employed it does tend to show a little laziness on the part of both the composer and director (who no doubt was looking for that atmospheric sound). While on Allies there is a hint of brass on tracks like 'Brothers' and drums on 'Dakota Flight' but it's used sparingly and helps compliment the more modern themes, like 'Harry's Moment'. The score contains 15 tracks (48 min, 05 sec) with other noteworthy tracks including the beautiful 'Brothers' Car Ride'; and 'Harry and Catherine'. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
