Perseverance Records release Miriam Cutler's score to the EMMY nominated HBO documentary Ethel, which examines the personal, untold story of Ethel Kennedy... The score contains 28 tracks (58 min, 17 sec) and delivers pretty much what you'll be expecting from a historical, biographical documentary. There are few surprises here. I'd also argue that there are a few too many music cues, which are short and go nowhere. No doubt they work well in the film, but sound a little odd when listened to as standalone music tracks. I couldn't help but be reminded of Howard Shore's score for Mrs. Doubtfire when listening to tracks like 'Skiing Together' and 'Bobby Opened Up'. If you own that score, try listening to 'Daniel and the Kids' and you'll see what I mean. It's an interesting score, but not necessarily one I'd rush to listen to again in a hurry. While there are some interesting themes, on balance it's a little too twee. 5 Darren Rea Buy this item online
