MovieScore Media releases Knut Avenstroup Haugen’s score for the hit Norwegian animated film The Christmas of Solan & Ludvig. Based on the popular characters created by best selling author Kjell Aukrust, the Christmas story takes place in Flåklypa where local residents are horrified by the prospect that they might have to celebrate without snow. Inventor Reodor Felgen is tasked with creating a snow machine, but his plans backfire...

Knut Avenstroup Haugen’s score for The Christmas of Solan & Ludvig contains 53 min, 45 sec of music spread over 25 tracks. It's a light-hearted score with lots of tongue in cheek music. This is probably not too surprising given that this is an animated kid's film that is set at Christmas. But don't let that put you off; the majority of tracks house beautiful themes.

Highlights include '"It's Only Feathers"'; 'Preparing for Christmas'; 'Lighting the Christmas Tree' (which reminded me of Danny Elfman's score for Edward Scissorhands); the retro jazz-based 'Mysterious Occurences'; 'Frimand and Melvin's Christmas' (which sounds very much like the work of James Horner); and 'Epilogue: Christmas in Pinchcliffe'.

On the strength of this album alone, I'll be doing an iTunes search for Haugen's previous work.
