MovieScore Media expands its Discovery Collection with its fourteenth entry: the world premiere recording of The Lost Empire by John Altman, written for the 2001 Hallmark mini-series. The colourful adventure score may have been written for a television mini-series, but its rich sound, symphonic palette and great application of exotic instruments such as the erhu or Chinese flutes makes it more akin to a full-fledged feature film score... John Altman's score for the TV mini-series The Lost Empire, contains 24 tracks (1 hr, 07 sec). It's an interesting action adventure themed score that has plenty of intricate and interesting themes woven throughout its duration. There are elements of John Williams's scores from Star Wars and 'The Story of Wu' incorporates elements of 'Mars, the Bringer of War' from Gustav Holst's The Planets, Op. 32. In truth there's hardly a dull moment here. If you like your scores bold and busy then you'll love this. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
