For the first time, the Jurassic Park franchise comes to LEGO video games, spanning more than two decades of films from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, including Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park III, as well as the latest movie Jurassic World. Reimagined with TT Games’ signature LEGO humour, the thrilling adventure recreates unforgettable scenes and action sequences from the films, allowing fans to experience for themselves the franchise's most memorable moments and the opportunity to fully explore the expansive grounds of Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna...

LEGO Jurassic World has been created to appeal to both fans of the original movies, as well as a new audience to the franchise. So, after you've completed the first level (which is the opening scenes of the original Jurassic Park movie, you'll be transported to Jurassic World where you can either play through the events of the first movie, or head straight on into the new movie.

It's the same old game play, but brushed up a little with loads more characters, vehicles and the ability to control dinosaurs. The graphics look great on the Xbox One and are certainly a huge leap forward from the previous Xbox 360 offerings.

One of the aspects of the LEGO games franchise that fans look forward to is the humourous element that is injected into the cut sequences; reenacting memorable scenes, but with a LEGO twist. Rather disappointingly, while there is a touch of this humour running throughout the game, LEGO Jurassic World actually goes more for faithfully recreating the scenes. This, as far as I can remember, is the first LEGO game I've played where dialogue from the films has been used. This, I think, detracts somewhat from allowing the animators the freedom to create something a little more comical.

Players travel throughout 20 story levels on a mission to collect precious amber containing dinosaur DNA. The collected DNA can then be used to build a dino collection, you can also mix the pieces to create an original species with the Dino Customizer by mixing and matching colour, body parts and abilities or fill the giant footsteps of the LEGO dinosaurs and actually play the game as the beasts themselves.

As always, with the LEGO games, running through the levels is only a small part of the actual game play. To get the most out of this, you'll need to spend hours smashing every single destructible element to find LEGO studs, as well as hidden items. In addition you'll want to revisit levels when you have unlocked certain characters that will allow you to reach previously locked areas.

So, another solid LEGO game that will keep you entertained for weeks, and possibly months.
