Nettwerk release Ilan Eshkeri's score for Still Alice. The movie centres around Alice Howland, who is happily married with three grown children. Alice is a renowned linguistics professor who starts to forget words. When she receives a diagnosis of Early-Onset Alzheimer's Disease, Alice and her family find their bonds thoroughly tested. Her struggle to stay connected to who she once was is frightening, heartbreaking, and inspiring... Ilan Eshkeri's (Stardust, Centurion) score for Still Alice wasn't quite what I was expected. Being a huge fan of his beautiful score for Stardust, I was looking forward to something a little more emotional. While there are some interesting tracks, the majority of the music is pretty forgetful. Add to this the fact that the album is quite short, containing only 14 track (23 min, 07 sec), and you have a score that's not really worth buying unless you're a huge fan of the movie. In addition, I couldn't help but be reminded of Thomas Newman's score for The Shawshank Redemption on the tracks 'Toothpaste' and 'Souls Rising'. The closing song 'If I Had a Boat' is interesting, and certainly one of the highlights. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
