Myths & Muses is the second album from the UK’s ‘Medieval-World-Folk-Rock’ band, Serpentyne. The band fuse traditional music with modern, atmospheric, ambient and dance sounds. Over the last few years their live show has become quite the spectacle, the band appearing in flamboyant costumes and with immersive visuals, leading to triumphant performances across the UK and Europe, including opening slots for Rick Wakeman and The Orb... Fans of medieval folk music are in for a treat... everyone else will probably wonder what all the fuss is about. From a technical point of view, Myths & Muses can't be faulted. Serpentyne take traditional folk songs and weave their magic to deliver a more modern sound, with that traditional medieval style still very much present. But whether you'll appreciate all the hard work comes down to whether you're a fan of the genre or not. While there is a market out there for this style of music, I'm afraid that I'm not a huge fan. I appreciate what the band are doing, but can't muster the enthusiasm to listen to this without feeling that I've heard it all before... probably in a past life. It does exactly what it says on the can. 7 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
