Guitarist, songwriter and vocalist Krissy Matthews’s new album sees this 22-year-old join forces with the legendary Pete Brown, best known for co-writing many of Cream’s celebrated hits of the 1960s with the late Jack Bruce, and for his work with such esteemed figures as Graham Bond, Peter Green and Jeff Beck... Scenes from a Moving Window includes 12 songs (1 hr, 05 min, 58 sec), with many of the tracks reflecting personal experiences, including two about a former girlfriend ('I’ve Been Searching' and 'Day by Day') and another about the sad passing of an old friend who acted as Matthews’s manager and agent ('Bubbles and the Seven Phones'). The album opens with 'If I had a Time Machine', which is Matthews's take on how it would feel to have been part of the ‘60’s music scene. It's a rocking track, with other rock-based songs including 'I've Been Searching'; 'Searching the Desert for the Blues'; and 'Bad Boy'. The rest of the album is a cross between modern blues, a touch of indie and a taste of country ('Roadsick Blues'). 'Day by Day' reminded my of the sort of music Paul Weller used to put out. It's an interesting and varied album that offers something a little different for those that are bored of the usual rock output from modern artists. 7 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
