Based out of New York City, Wolf Colony is an anonymous singer-songwriter who began collaborating with music producer Neal Sarin in 2012 with no initial intention of pursuing a career as a recording artist. Wolf Colony delivers a new blend of electronic-pop, drawing influences from '80s synth-pop to indie rock, while slipping in subtle stylistic nuances inspired by various contemporary electronic artists. Rather than indulging in over-production, Wolf Colony adorns his songs with relatively bare arrangements, leaving ample room for his unique vocal presence and deeply personal lyricism... There's a distinct '80s vibe at the core of Wolf Colony's album Unmasked. However, while I'm a fan of that genre, unfortunately I couldn't get into Wolf Colony's music. There was a lack of emotion in the singing and little in the way of passion in the minimalist electronic-pop instrumentation. The press release states: "Rather than indulging in over-production, Wolf Colony adorns his songs with relatively bare arrangements, leaving ample room for his unique vocal presence and deeply personal lyricism". Personally, I didn't care for the vocals. Sadly his voice isn't anywhere near strong enough to carry off this on its own merits. At the end of the day I found this rather bland, and emotionless. Each track sounding like the last. 3 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
