Lakeshore Records release the score for the documentary Regarding Susan Sontag. The film is an intimate and nuanced investigation into the life of one of the most influential and provocative thinkers of the 20th century. Passionate and gracefully outspoken throughout her career, Sontag became one of the most important literary, political and feminist icons of her generation. The documentary explores Sontag’s life from her early infatuation with books and her first experience in a gay bar; from her marriage in adolescence to her last lover... Laura Karpman and Nora Kroll-Rosenbaum's score for Regarding Susan Sontag is a master class in experimental music. Some may herald it as a "work of genius", others may dismiss it as "self-indulgent nonsense", but love it or loath it, there's no doubt that, just like your thoughts on Sontag herself, you'll have a strong opinion one way or another. For me, there was a little too much free style jazz. For those who loved the film and are hardcore jazz fanatics, there's lots to champion here. For everyone else... it's very subjective whether you'll enjoy it or not. I think Sontag would approve of the choices made. 6 Darren Rea Buy this item online
