Benjamin Wallfisch's original score for Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain is being released through MovieScore Records. The movie tells a harrowing tale based on real events that happened 30 years ago. The story follows young rickshaw driver Dilip who is lucky enough to get a menial job at the Union Carbide chemical plant of his hometown Bhopal. As Dilip gets ready for his sister’s wedding, an unforeseen tragedy unfolds. Dilip and his family fall victim to the worst industrial disaster in recorded history, as poisonous gas from the factory is released into the air following a storage tank explosion, claiming well over 15,000 lives and causing countless injuries... The original score for Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain features 16 tracks (39 min, 28 sec) and opens with the beautiful 'Elegy for Bhopal'. Composer Benjamin Wallfisch, who has delivered some remarkable scores in the past (Conquest 1453; The Escapist; Hammer of the Gods), gives us another collection of beautiful, intricate themes. While I could have lived without 'Rickshaw', its inclusion will at least make you smile. Likewise, 'A Prayer for Rain' is a track you'll either love or hate; there's no argument that the music is beautiful, it's just Mary Lea's vocals may not be to everyone's taste. Once again Wallfisch delivers something a little different; something a little unexpected, but definitely a score with a lot of heart. 8 Darren Rea Buy this item online
