After being forced out of their home in Jerusalem by the Romans, 900 Jews were ensconced in a fortress at Masada, a mountain in the Judean desert. Besieged at Masada, the Jews held out for months against the vast Roman armies. The series recounts the events from the perspective of a few extraordinary women who arrive at Masada with unique backstories, but a common bond for survival. Additionally, these women, who work together daily as dovekeepers, are all concealing substantial secrets...

Jeff Beal delivers a powerful, yet beautifully subtle score for The Dovekeepers. The 2-disc album features 51 tracks (2 hr, 28 min, 24 sec). Not surprisingly, given the show's location and subject matter, this collection is full of romantic, beautiful tracks, with a hint of the middle east thrown in.

It's an epic score, with plenty here to fall in love with. It's also not an album that has any tracks that you'll want to skip. From the first to the last track, this is part of a slowly unfolding musical experience.
