Lakeshore Records release Paul Cantelon's score to Effie Gray. The movie peers boldly inside the forbidden realms of Victorian society through the true story of the marriage of Effie Gray and renowned art critic John Ruskin, courageously exposing a secret world of unrequited passion hidden behind the veil of an opulent public life. Set in an era when neither divorce, nor gay marriage were an option, this is the story of a beautiful young woman coming of age, and finding her own voice in a world where women were expected to be seen but not heard... Paul Cantelon's score for Effie Gray contains 16 tracks (42 min, 21 sec). It's full of beautiful, classical based themes. 'Wedding Night' brought to mind the music of John Barry, particularly from his scores like Somewhere in Time. Personal favourite tracks include the aforementioned 'Wedding Night'; the intricate 'Vorrei Comprare del Formaggio'; 'Gondola' (which repeats the main themes within 'Vorrei Comprare del Formaggio'; and 'Effie'. However, to be perfectly honest, there isn't a dull track on the album. It actually works best when played from start to finish. This is a beautiful score that will be enjoyed by those that like slow, melancholic classical music based soundtracks. 9 Darren Rea Buy this item online
