Darren Fung's score for The Great Human Odyssey is released through Varèse Sarabande Records. This three-part documentary series and interactive web documentary explores the unlikely survival and the miraculous emergence of Homo sapiens as the world’s only global species. Ancient climate research has revealed that we evolved during the most volatile era since the extinction of the dinosaurs. Just like the many other kinds of human who once shared our world, we should have died away. Instead, our species survived to populate every corner of the planet, against all the odds... The score for The Great Human Odyssey delivers exactly what you'll be expecting from a documentary series of this nature; it's full of rousing themes and beautiful little intricate segments. The album contains 25 tracks (1 hr, 3 min, 41 sec). The one stand out track, for me, was 'Remarkable Adaptations'. And I was reminded, very briefly, of Rob Simonsen and Jonathan Sadoff's score for Seeking a Friend for the End of the World in the track 'Humans Underwater'. It's a little by-the-numbers, but that doesn't detract from the fact that there are some impressive themes woven across this interesting collection. 7 Darren Rea Buy this item online
