Pale Honey are a minimalistic rock duo from Gothenburg, Sweden. Already likened to artists likes PJ Harvey and Sleater-Kinney for their intensity and directness, and calling to mind the sonic textures of Alvvays and Beach House, their debut album is released through Bolero Recordings... I've been listening to this album for over two weeks now... and I'm still no closer to feeling comfortable with it. Nothing, it would seem, has permeated my brain and lodged itself in my memory... So, when I put it aside for a few days and then play it again, I hardly remember any of the tracks. Part of me thinks this is down to a generic, blandness, while another part of me thinks that I've reviewed so many enjoyable and memorable albums of late that Pale Honey just doesn't come close to vying for my attention. Of the 10 tracks (29 min, 52 sec) I did enjoy the haunting 'Desert' and 'Tease' has an interesting indie rock feel to it, but other than that I didn't really warm to this album at all. 5 Nick Smithson Buy this item online
