ScreamWorks Records returns to the world of Spanish horror films with Ginés Carrión's score to Sweet Home, a home invasion thriller released by Filmax. Directed by Rafa Martítnez, the movie follows a young couple who move into a new home, set in a largely disused building. Although having a huge place to themselves seems to be advantageous at first, they will soon find out that having no neighbours means nobody can help them when the house unravels it’s horrific secrets...

You have to take your hat off to Ginés Carrión. Not only does he deliver something a little different (while at the same time managing to shoehorn in a wonderfully cliched collection of horror themes), but he also offers us an instantly forgettable score that you'll actually enjoy.

Yes, it sounds like I'm drunk or concussed doesn't it? So maybe I should try and explain that a little better. I've listened to this score over half a dozen times now and every time it was like a was hearing the music for the first time. There are no easily identifiable themes, but while there are a lot of cliched "horror" moments, there's also a lot of subtle segments, and the end result is rather enjoyable.

It's an album that doesn't command your full attention. There are beautifully subtle background tracks (like 'Feliz Cumpleaños') which you can play while you do something else that demands your attention; as well as more intense, action segments (like 'Face to Face with Death'). Then there are tracks, like 'By Force', which offer a little of both.

The score contains 14 tracks (54 min, 25 sec). It was one I enjoyed, although I can't think of another time in the future when I'd voluntarily dig it out to listen to for pleasure.
